Our Commitment To Social Responsibility
With the recent government shutdown and pause in some federally funded programs, we want to come together as a YMCA community—to offer help to those who need it and to provide opportunities for those who want to help others.
We know this moment brings uncertainty for many families. No matter your situation, we want you to know that the YMCA is here for you — to connect you with resources, provide a place of support, and bring our community together in care and compassion.

If you need help beyond food assistance, contact First Link by dialing 211, calling 701-235-7335, or texting your ZIP code to 898-211. This free, confidential service provides 24/7 support, referrals, and crisis assistance.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Families enrolled in our YMCA Learning Centers can apply for financial assistance through our scholarship program.
To qualify for financial assistance, you must be currently enrolled or in the process of enrolling at one of our child care programs. Financial assistance is designed to help cover expenses based on your family size and gross income per your household.
It is possible for families to qualify for both North Dakota/Minnesota and YMCA financial assistance programs. However, we encourage families to apply for state child care assistance before applying for YMCA Financial Assistance.
Government employees who are currently furloughed may apply for temporary membership assistance. Simply show your Government ID and furlough paperwork to the Member Services team for a free month of membership to help maintain normalcy and connection during this time.
WAYS TO DONATE
Starting Monday, November 3, we’ll be collecting nonperishable food donations at:
- All YMCA Learning Centers (Early Learning and After School)
- Fercho, Schlossman, and Fergus Falls YMCA Member Services Desks
Donation boxes will be available onsite. All collected food will go directly into family food boxes for Y members and child care families in need.
Prefer to shop online? You can purchase items from our Amazon Food Pantry Wish List or Target Wish List. Items will ship directly to the YMCA.
We're Here For Each Other
The YMCA is built on community, compassion, and connection. Whether you’re seeking help or looking to give it, your YMCA family is here to walk alongside you. Together, we can ensure that every child, senior, and family has what they need — because we truly are better together.
If you have other ideas or ways you’d like to help, email assistance@ymcanorthernsky.org.
